A Michigan State House committee this morning advanced a package of bills that would impose new regulations on abortion providers.

One of the three bills includes a ban on late-term abortions for unborn children 20 or more weeks developed, with an emergency exception for the mother’s life, said Rep. Deb Shaughnessy, R-Charlotte.

Other provisions require abortion clinics to be licensed surgical centers, outline new requirements for disposing of the remains of aborted fetuses and make it crime to coerce a woman into having an abortion.
