Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer struck down a proposal to require parental notification of some teen abortions. The requirement would have applied to minors under 16 years of age. The governor argued that it would be ruled unconstitutional by courts.
The Republican-led Montana state legislature also put the question on the 2012 ballot for voters to consider.
