Late this afternoon, the Virginia Board of Health approved a set of
regulations treating abortion clinics the same as hospital surgical
centers on a 12-1 vote.
The emergency regulations will take effect Jan. 1, 2012, while the
governor and attorney general review them. They are good for 12 months,
and could be extended for another six at the governor’s discretion.
